There is a good choice of New York hotels in the Central Park area, many of them in the luxury price range including the Pierre A Taj, Hotel Plaza Athenee, and Trump International Hotel and Tower. There area is also a great base for tourists, as it is close to a number of attractions including, Times Square, the American Museum of Natural History, and Rockefeller Center.
Entrants can either run or walk the race, but whatever method they choose they still need to be fit enough to take part. Around 7,500 people are expected to take part in the 2012 event, which takes place on Sunday 15 April. The race will start and finish in Central Park, with much of the route taking your through the springtime beauty of the park. Weather in April can be a bit unpredictable. Temperatures could range from a chilly 45F to a warm 61F. It can even at times get hot, so be prepared for a number of weather conditions. The race costs $85 and is still open for entries, but it you want to take part it's a good idea to register sooner rather than later as spots fill-up quickly. It is a fun race to take part in with a group of friends and see if you're up to the challenge without the pressures of a much more competitive race.
Since the race takes place in the iconic Central Park, you will have no trouble finding a New York hotel to base yourself at for your visit. The area has a number or luxury and mid-range hotels. You will also find plenty of places to eat or have a post-race celebratory drink nearby.
Taking part in the race is also a motivating way to achieve your New Year's resolution to get fit. It can give you a goal to focus on and finishing the race is something definitely worth some bragging rights.
