135th Westminster Dog Show takes place from 13 - 14 February in New York's iconic Madison Square Garden. Dogs are judged first in their breed and groups before gaining a sought after spot in the 'Best in Show' class at the end of the show. Breed judging takes place from 8am - 6pm each day. Evenings will feature group classes.
You can buy two types of tickets from Ticketmaster. The more expensive option is reserved seating, which costs $130. This ticket guarantees you a specific seat in the best sections for when you attend. The cheaper option is the general admission ticket, which costs $45 for a one-day ticket or $80 for a two-day ticket. General admission tickets do not guarantee you a specific seat. Children's one-day tickets cost $25. If you decide to attend last minute, you may be able to get a ticket at the Madison Square Garden Box Office on the morning. However, these tickets are very limited, so make sure you arrive first thing in the morning.
A great perk of all tickets is access to the bench area. This is an area 'backstage' where all dogs stay on designated platforms. The dogs must remain in their designated area with their handlers on the day they are entered in classes. It gives you a chance to meet different dog breeds and learn more about them by talking to the owners or handlers.
Madison Square Garden is located at:
Pennsylvania PlazaSeventh to Either Avenues and 31st to 33rd Streets
The best way to get to the show is on foot, subway or taxi. If you want to drive there are several parking garages nearby. Red lines 1, 2, and 3 stop at Seventh Avenue and blue lines A, B, and C stop at Eighth Avenue. There are several hotels in the area to choose from.
