The first weekend of the event is 'Circus Weekend.' Events start at 10am with the 'Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus - Fun Zone. Over the weekend you can enjoy, sailor art, flying machines, clowns, stilt walkers and acrobatics. The Fun Zone will defintiely be buzzing all day with activity, so you may want to arrive early. Another highlight of the day is 'The Pirates! Band of Misfits' film activities. You can only imagine what kind of crazy antics will take place here.
Monday 20th is 'Space and Aviation Day.' The day consists of fun demonstrations, an interactive balloon rocket creation, and a 'Live Bird Flight Demonstration.' At 11am and 3pm you can take part in the 'Intrepid Curator Space Capsule Story Time.' This event will certainly amaze the kids, especially kids that love to make things and are curious about how birds fly.
Tuesday is 'Broadway Day' with fun, interactive displays from some of Broadway's biggest shows including, Mary Poppins, Sister Act, and Spiderman. At 2pm you can see the Million Dollar Quartet Perform, and the day ends with a visit from Spider-Man, including a chance to have your photo taken with him. This is sure to be a really popular day, so make sure to book your tickets in advance to make sure you can attend.
The rest of the week's themes are 'Sports Day,' 'Birthday Party Day,' and the 'Safari Weekend.' Activities include jugglers, cooking, interactive sports displays, live snakes and penguins, a demonstration about water systems, and camouflage art. The event has something for the interests of all kids and probably adults too. While all of the week's events will attracts a big crowd, expect the weekends to be the busiest. If you want to attend when it is likely to be less crowded aim for one of the mid-week activities.
The Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum is located at Pier 86 W 46th Street and 12th Avenue. Tickets cost $22. New York Hotels on the south side of Central Park provide a good base for visiting the museum. The Peninsula New York hotel offers luxury accommodation, a spa, and afternoon tea. The nearest hotel in New York to the museum is the Skyline Hotel.
