Do Yoga and Relax at San Francisco Airport

San Francisco airport recently announced a new service for those travelling through its facility, a yoga room. The room is designed to give travellers a place to calm pre-flight nerves or just unwind after a hectic business trip.

The airports director of community affairs, Michael C. McCarron, told Reuters that "as far as we know it's the first (yoga room) at an airport anywhere in the world."

The room is set up with calming colours and dim, soft lighting. It will have space for you to simply mediate or to practice yoga. It is supposed to be a quiet room where you can escape the hustle and bustle of the airport. The room opened in the airport's Terminal 2 at the end of January.

If you want to take advantage of the yoga room, you will have to do it before you go through security. Hopefully it will help you cope with the stress caused by travelling and allow you to go through security in a calm state of mind. While you can bring your own yoga matt, you don't need too, as they are available in the room.

San Francisco might be setting a new trend. It is thought that yoga rooms will start springing up in other airports. It is an especially good facility for those about to travel on long haul flights, as it is important to keep your blood circulating to void DVT.

So if you're currently looking for a San Fransico hotel, it may be a good idea to brush up on your "Yoga Room Etiquette." If you're not heading to San Francisco, but are currently planning a London vacation or looking for hotels in other cities, why not suggest those airports open a yoga room too when you pass through. After all, it was all because of a traveller's suggestion the San Francisco opened its room
